如果让外国人列举几道中国菜,宫保鸡丁一定包含在内。宫保鸡丁是一道闻名中外的特色传统名菜,颇受中外食客青睐。相传这道菜以晚清名臣丁宝桢命名。丁宝桢喜欢吃花生米和鸡,尤其喜欢吃辣,所以他在山东为官时,命家厨改良鲁菜“酱爆鸡丁”为辣炒,后来他在四川总督上任的时候,便将此菜推广开来,命名为宫保鸡丁,由此传开来。丁宝桢原籍贵州,曾任山东巡抚,后任四川总督,逝世后被清廷追赠 “太子太保”衔,世称“丁宫保”,本品也因此得名。

The main difference between Chinese and America eating habits is that unlike, where everyone has their own plate of food, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. If you are being treated by a Chinese host, be prepared for a ton of food.
